Job Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance to all areas of the mill including preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, installation, repair, assembly, troubleshooting and dismantling of equipment.
- Attend and complete all training programs to become skilled in all four crafts for the role.
- Work with all shop machines and equipment, mobile equipment, structures, production equipment, systems, appropriate hand, power and measuring tools, prints and drawings and necessary safety equipment.
- Observe a safety-first mindset and ensure safety procedures, PPE requirements, LOTO procedures, etc are followed.
- Operate overhead cranes as needed.
Job Requirements
- Mill Mechanical Technician – Trainee:
- Completed a recognized apprenticeship or posses equivalent experience in at least one of the four trades: Boilermaker, Millwright, Pipefitter, Welder.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Mill Mechanical Technician – Assistant:
- Must possess a minimum of a two year associates degree in the applicable field from an accredited institution or have 2 years’ experience in the applicable field as determined by management.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Mill Mechanical Technician – Standard:
- Completed a recognized apprenticeship or have the equivalence of a craft apprenticeship in one of the four trades and take courses and passed tests, and completed the training program to become skilled in all four trades: Boilermaker, Millwright, Pipefitter, Welder.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- All Levels:
- 1-3 years of experience as a mechanical maintenance technician in heavy industry, manufacturing or mining.
- Experience working with machinery, equipment operations or a closely related field preferred.
- Trained in the operations of overhead cranes.
- Must be able to read, understand and work from mechanical prints, drawings and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting, repair and installation skills.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage your time when you given multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels personnel.
- Physically able to climb, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, make repetitive motions, hear, etc.
- Able to constantly exert forces up to 50 pounds and frequently exert forces up to 100 pounds to lift, carry, push and pull.
