About the role

The Diagnostics Solutions Consultant (DSC) is a field-based, customer-facing member of our sales team responsible for selling Zoetis diagnostic instruments, tests, and associated products and services within an assigned U.S. sales territory. The DSC builds and maintains customer relationships to maximize retention, achieves budgeted sales quotas, and updates sales funnel and customer profile data. This role requires collaboration with other Zoetis colleagues to support the diagnostics business and involves anticipated travel within the assigned territory (up to 70%).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of diagnostic products and services.
  • Travel to offices of existing and prospective customers, targeting 2-4 existing customers and 2-4 new business opportunities per day (extensive driving required, with periodic overnight travel of approximately 4-8 nights per month, depending on territory).
  • Document all customer and prospect interactions in the online system.
  • Transport, set up, and demonstrate diagnostic equipment and features.
  • Clearly explain the uses and benefits of diagnostic products and services, answer questions, and communicate the value proposition.
  • Secure purchase orders for diagnostic products and services.
  • Provide ongoing customer support, including assisting customers in person, over the phone, and via email with product, technical, or service concerns.
  • Make periodic customer courtesy calls, keep clients informed of new products and services, and interface with sales, accounting, and technical staff to address customer needs.
  • Work cooperatively with Diagnostic Technical Specialists to ensure strong customer service and enhance utilization.
  • Generate new business and leads, including placing instruments in competitor accounts, academia, and research settings, and gathering referrals from existing customers.
  • Support billing and collection efforts.
  • Safely lift and move up to 60 lbs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated sales experience or relevant technical/clinical experience, preferably in the medical, scientific, or healthcare industry.
  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred), preferably with a science or business emphasis, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, and auto insurance.
  • Must speak fluent English.

  • Superior understanding of current and future market trends, sales initiatives, and business information.
  • Knowledge of competition and their value messaging.
  • Understanding of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.

Pay

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $69,000 - $100,000. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for sales incentive compensation.
