Responsibilities
- Play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient experiences by coordinating treatments and diagnostic procedures from start to finish.
- Span the entire scheduling process—from pre-registration and insurance verification to obtaining pre-authorizations and managing physician orders with precision.
- Greet patients and ensure their check-in process is smooth and efficient.
- Expertly manage appointments, resolve conflicts, and maintain accurate records while producing essential statistical reports.
- Maintain records and produce statistical reports as required.
- Distribute educational materials to patients and families if needed in assigned department.
- Interface with physicians and their office staff, patients and family members, and clinical staff and co-workers.
- Must have an understanding of what is entailed in the procedures and treatments that they schedule, physician preferences, and special needs related to particular diagnosis or age of the patients being served.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, set priorities and maintain highly confidential information.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Preferably 2 years of medical clerical experience in a hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling setting.
- Medical terminology is required.
- Excellent organizational skills, effective human relations and communication skills.
- Proficient with commonly used office software and computers and possess the ability to use computerized scheduling systems.
- Able to maintain accurate statistical records, gather data, and produce reports.
