Diagnostic Breast Sonographer

About the role

The Diagnostic Sonographer at Solis Mammography is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. They must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique, communicate with patients and relay pertinent information to radiologists, and document on tracking sheets/charts.

Responsibilities

• Operate sonography equipment independently to create necessary images and obtain measurements.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique.
• Communicate with patients and relay any pertinent information to the radiologist.
• Document on tracking sheets/charts.
• Communicate with the radiologist and understand and perform any necessary additional exams.

Requirements

• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
• Active certification with ARDMS.
• Current compliance with CME requirements.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health.
• Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology.
• Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
• Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills

• Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
