About the role
The Diagnostic Sonographer at Solis Mammography is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. They must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique, communicate with patients and relay pertinent information to radiologists, and document on tracking sheets/charts.
Responsibilities
- Operate sonography equipment independently to create necessary images and obtain measurements.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique.
- Communicate with patients and relay any pertinent information to the radiologist.
- Document on tracking sheets/charts.
- Communicate with the radiologist and understand and perform any necessary additional exams.
Requirements
- Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
- Active certification with ARDMS.
- Current compliance with CME requirements.
Qualifications
- Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health.
- Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology.
- Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Skills
- Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
