DEVELOPMENT SERVICES INTERN - P/T, Temporary

Job Summary

The DEVELOPMENT SERVICES INTERN - P/T, Temporary position offers an opportunity to work alongside experienced planners on a variety of projects, providing hands-on experience in urban planning and learning about municipal government functions.

Essential Functions

• Aids in the development of both current and long-range development review and/or other planning activities.
• Provides information to the public and assists with special projects such as the Land Development Code Update, the Evaluation of Appraisals Review, the Mobility Plan, and other special projects as directed.
• Maintains various planning maps, files, graphics, and records and assists with responses to public information requests.
• Gathers, selects, compiles, and analyzes data pertaining to community characteristics.
• Shares knowledge with City staff to benefit City operations.
• Supports a work environment that encourages clear and open communication and excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an urban and regional planning, geography, public administration, or similar program at an accredited college or university with completion of one year (normally 30 credit hours) toward a bachelor's degree.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and research practices.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Prior experience working in an office setting and experience with ArcGIS is preferred.
