Main Function

The Development Manager – Miami Campus is a frontline fundraising professional responsible for building and advancing a philanthropic culture at Albizu University’s Miami campus. This role leads to donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship while managing alumni engagement initiatives that strengthen long-term institutional support. Working under a centralized development strategy, this position serves as the primary development representative in Miami, engaging donors, alumni, and community stakeholders. This is a results-oriented role requiring an entrepreneurial mindset to build relationships and generate philanthropic revenue in a growing market. This position is responsible for helping build Albizu’s donor pipeline in the Miami market from the ground up, including identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual, corporate, foundation, and alumni prospects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or alumni relations.
  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish), both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated experience building donor pipelines from early-stage prospecting through cultivation, solicitation, gift closing, and stewardship.
  • Experience with CRM systems for prospect tracking and pipeline management; Raiser’s Edge NXT or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a early-stage, market-building environment with a high degree of autonomy, initiative, and accountability.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including donor proposals and correspondence.
  • Must be based in the Miami metropolitan area.
  • Preferred: Experience in higher education, healthcare, or behavioral health fundraising. Established network within the Miami philanthropic or nonprofit community. Familiarity with South Florida donor landscape (foundations and corporate giving). Experience planning donor and alumni engagement events.
  • Graduate degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or related field.

Essential Functions

  • Fundraising & Donor Development: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, and alumni donors in the Miami/South Florida region. Lead donor meetings, site visits, solicitations, and follow-up strategies to move prospects through the giving cycle. Prepare and deliver donor-facing proposals, presentations, correspondence, and stewardship materials. Develop and execute donor stewardship strategies. Manage restricted gifts and scholarships in coordination with leadership. Support grant prospecting and proposal development. Meet or exceed established annual fundraising targets. Build and manage a prospect portfolio with giving capacity generally ranging form $1,000 to $25,000+.
  • Alumni Engagement & Pipeline Development: Serve as the primary contact for alumni engagement in Miami. Plan and execute alumni events and communications. Build relationships to strengthen long-term giving potential. Identify and transition high-potential alumni into donor pipelines.
  • Portfolio & CRM Management: Maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of donor and alumni interactions in Raiser’s Edge NXT or the institution’s designated CRM system. Track and manage prospect pipelines and segmentation. Prepare reports and activity summaries for leadership.
  • Campaigns & Strategic Initiatives: Lead Miami-based fundraising and engagement efforts for institutional campaigns, including anniversary initiatives and other strategic fundraising priorities. Execute fundraising events and engagement activities. Collaborate with Marketing & Communications on outreach strategies.
  • Institutional Collaboration: Align Miami initiatives with institutional development strategy. Partner with campus leadership to identify funding opportunities. Represent the Office of Development at institutional and community events.
