About the role
The Lake County Sheriff's Office seeks an experienced Detentions Supervisor to lead and manage the Detentions division. The ideal candidate must have a strong commitment to public service, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in law enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Directs, manages, and supervises Detentions, Court Security and Inmate Transports within the Detentions division.
- Oversees all administrative functions in the assigned division.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates Detentions staff including Sergeants, Corporals, Detentions Deputies, and Court Security Deputies.
- Administers contracts and grants; negotiates contracts to ensure compliance with County specifications, service quality, and other requirements.
- Responsible for procurement of goods and services; responsible for the care and maintenance of departmental equipment.
- Serves as a liaison for assigned functions with other County departments, divisions, and outside agencies.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in law enforcement; researches emerging products and enhancements and their applicability to County needs.
- Maintains staff compliance with County and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Serves as the Sheriff’s representative on various review boards and committees.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of Law Enforcement experience.
- Two (2) years of experience performing duties at a level equivalent to the classification of Sheriff’s Sergeant.
- Experience with law enforcement related administrative duties and grants.
- At least one leadership class certification (POST/CSOC/LEEDA) or equivalent.
- At least one instructor certification in a law enforcement related field.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Associates level or equivalent college credit hours or above.
- Licenses: Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of appointment.
