Detention Officer

About the role

The City of Forney seeks qualified individuals to join their team as Detention Officers. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety, security, and daily operations of the jail.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the security of the jail and ensures inmates comply with policies and procedures.
• Processes the booking of inmates and ensures their adequate care.
• Supervises inmate actions to prevent physical harm and maintain order.
• Responds to and diffuses emergency and dangerous situations, including fights, suicide attempts, and assaults.
• Maintains cleanliness and operational capacity of the jail.
• Performs inspections and shakedowns of jail facilities.
• Maintains custody of inmates while in hospital.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in law enforcement, jail operations, or equivalent is preferred.
