Job Summary
As our Security Officer, you will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and visitor management and observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned site. You will preserve order and act to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff and employees and respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients, and visitors within the hospital or healthcare setting.
- Respond to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes.
- Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms, and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions and investigate security breaches, conducting follow-up investigations and writing incident reports.
- Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner, using appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location.
Job Requirements
- Required: High School Diploma or GED, Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer.
- Preferred: Arizona State Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report, International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer, Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO).
