Detention Officer
About the role
The City jail facility is maintained under direct supervision, following established procedures and policies to ensure the Care, Custody and Control of prisoners, as well as the safety and well-being of City personnel and the public. The incumbent must be able to exercise independent judgment and perform duties according to detailed instructions with strict adherence to prescribed standards and procedures, without close supervision. Reports directly to the Detention Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Up to six months of experience in jail operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Special Requirements
The Detention Officer is classified as an "Emergency Essential" position, requiring availability to remain or respond in the event of emergency conditions, including before, during, and after a disaster or emergency, to perform duties directly related to the emergency conditions as determined by the City.
Pay
Starting salary is $17.98
