About the Role
As a Desktop Technician, you will be responsible for providing on-site technical support for desktop hardware and software, imaging systems, and network equipment. You will coordinate with plant staff and IT teams to ensure the health and reliability of all IT assets. This role includes hands-on tasks involving computers, servers, network closets, and cable management, and requires excellent customer service skills.
Technical Duties
- Set up and monitor data closet equipment including servers and UPS units
- Monitor and report on site health including data closet equipment, servers, network, and clients
- Assist with cable runs and provide guidance to local teams on cable termination
- Escort vendors on site during maintenance activities for data closet systems
- Assist with server operations as needed and support site lead
- Set up new servers and clients according to documented processes
- Perform maintenance on servers and clients (patches, agent installs, troubleshooting incidents)
- Maintain and document network IDF changes and port mappings
- Collaborate with plant staff for open communication and adherence to IT best practices
- Position is 100% on-site at primary and additional locations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
Technical Skills
- Windows XP through 11; Server 2008 through 2019
- Familiarity with antivirus systems, Active Directory, and Windows security settings
- Basic understanding of network infrastructure including TCP/IP, switching, and common network devices
- Proficiency with MS Office, Telnet/Putty clients, remote desktop, and imaging software (backup/recovery)
- Ability to use online collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint
General Skills

- Strong knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software
- Experience with configuration management and desktop communication software

- Oversee build, testing, and modification of product prototypes
