Specific Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee engineering duties associated with the design, fabrication, and installation of material handling systems.
- Ensure that the engineering output of a project meets applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Develop a detailed knowledge of customer standards and specifications for material handling design.
- Supervise a team of engineers, designers, and drafters, including performance reviews and professional development plans.
- Manage the training and development of individuals throughout the engineering department.
- Manage the engineering portion of material handling projects in conjunction with the Project Manager and Field Operations.
- Develop and communicate to the project team a detailed schedule of engineering tasks for his/her assigned projects.
- Collaborate with Sales and the System Solution Group to develop new business.
- Track and report on the progress of his/her assigned projects to the Director of Engineering.
- Write technical reports, handbooks, and bulletins for use by staff or customers.
- Manage his/her team to deliver quality drawings that are functional for installation and fabrication.
- Oversee designs and make recommendations based on appearance, safety, budget, and function.
- Uphold and enforce the policies and procedures of DCI.
- Any other tasks as required by the business.
Education, Skills and Experience
- Minimum: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work history/experience.
- Professional Engineering License preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Material Handling Design and Development
- Must have extensive knowledge in FedEx, UPS, or Amazon Conveyor Design Specifications and Standards
- Excellent internal and external communication skills
- Experience managing teams considered a plus
- Working knowledge of MS Office plus 2D and 3D CAD Software (Inventor, Revit and AutoCAD preferred, but not required)
- FEA analysis software experience, such as RISA 3D, a plus
- Must have experience leading large-scale material handling projects
- Must have leadership, time management, communication, and customer service skills
- Must work well in a team setting, show ability to multitask, and prioritize work to meet deadlines

Position Information
- Full Time position; salary with benefits
- Work Schedule: Avg. 45 hours per week, nights and weekends as required to meet deadlines
- Home office: Memphis, Tennessee
- Occasional travel: less than 25%
