Design Consultant - Salesperson
About the Role
This isn’t just sales—it’s design with purpose. At Closet Factory, our Design Consultants solve real problems inside people’s homes. You’ll work with clients to transform their spaces, focusing on thoughtful design rather than pushing products. The role offers tools, support, and earning potential to build a career, not just close deals.
You don’t start with a catalog; you start with a conversation. Clients come to you with dreams of functional, clutter-free, beautiful spaces. Your job is to listen carefully, design thoughtfully, and guide them to organized bliss. The sale happens because the design is right and customized to them—you’re earning trust, not selling shelving.
Responsibilities
- Meet clients in their Twin Cities homes to understand how they live, not just what they own.
- Diagnose storage challenges and uncover opportunities they haven’t considered.
- Translate needs into elegant, functional custom designs using 3D CAD software.
- Confidently present solutions, guide decisions, and manage expectations.
- Own projects end-to-end, from first consultation through installation.
- Build long-term relationships that lead to referrals and repeat business.
Qualifications
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Enjoy problem-solving and leading clients through decisions.
- Are naturally curious and ask great questions.
- Have strong communication skills and executive presence.
- Take pride in creating work clients believe in.
- Are motivated by performance-based earnings.
- Value autonomy but appreciate structure and support.
Design or sales experience is helpful, but mindset matters more than résumés.
Benefits

- Back-office, manufacturing, and installation support.

- Flexible hybrid schedule (in-home appointments + remote design time).
- A collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
Impact
You’ll help people reclaim their space, time, and peace of mind while building a career that rewards initiative, creativity, and results.
