Design/Construction Project Manager IV - Pleasanton, CA

About the Role

This senior individual contributor position oversees all phases of the design and/or construction process for moderately complex projects or a series of projects, typically ranging from $50-100 million in cumulative budget responsibility. Responsibilities include defining project parameters (time, budget, objectives, constraints), managing project teams (facility personnel, contractors, consultants), and ensuring Kaiser Permanente’s client service goals are met throughout design, construction, and close-out. The role also involves guiding design stages for medical/regional facilities, negotiating fees, approving invoices/change orders, securing permits, and communicating project status with leadership.

• Lead organizational change management (e.g., user adoption, training) and drive resource allocation and task assignments.
• Provide performance feedback to team members and coordinate internal/external resources based on project demands.
• Proactively identify, mitigate, and escalate project risks/issues; ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Align and coordinate diverse stakeholders (vendors, senior management) by clarifying accountability and authority.
• Develop project goals, prioritize deliverables, and facilitate decisions for project delivery.
• Communicate complex issues to stakeholders, deliver presentations, and provide reports to senior audiences.
• Review vendor performance, ensure service level agreements are met, and assist with contract negotiations.
• Partner with Procurement/Legal to develop agreements and review vendor invoices for accuracy.

Requirements

• Minimum four (4) years of experience in construction and/or design project management.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in a leadership role (with or without direct reports).
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and five (5) years of project management experience or eight (8) years of project management experience without a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in performance management.
• Three (3) years of experience in pharmacy and benefits operations.

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours/week).
• Shift: Day (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM).
• Worker location: Onsite (Pleasanton, CA).
• Travel: Up to 20% of the time.

Pay

Annual salary range: $139,600–$180,620. Actual base pay determined at offer based on market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications (experience, education, skills, location).
