The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is seeking dedicated individuals to join their ranks as School Resource Officers (SROs).

About the Role

As a Deputy Sheriff with the CCSO, you'll become part of an elite team committed to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for all Charleston County residents. This unique position combines focused school-based security with the broader responsibilities of a respected law enforcement professional.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe learning environment within assigned schools – protecting students, employees, and visitors.
• Respond to critical incidents and support the community during severe weather events.

Requirements

• At least 21 years old and a U.S. Citizen
• A high school graduate or have a GED; Qualified applicants with a college degree may receive enhanced compensation
• A minimum of two (2) years or more of certified law enforcement experience in South Carolina
• SRO certification is highly desirable
• A valid South Carolina licensed driver; or the ability to obtain a South Carolina driver’s license
• Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable)
• No pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement)
• No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers
• No student loans in default status
• No criminal convictions

Qualifications

To Be Considered, Candidates Must:

• Have no criminal convictions
• Successfully complete our multi-phase hiring process, which includes a POST test, a physical abilities test, a two-phase background investigation, a psychological evaluation, and an oral interview

Pay

Hiring Hourly Range: $26.73 - $36.00
Hiring Salary Range: $55,598 - $74,880 (Estimated Annual Salary)
