Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical Requirements
- Familiar with the provision of TMUTCD (Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices).
- Operate power tools, heat treating equipment, and portable pavement marking machine.
- Read and interpret sign specifications and translate to manufacturing products.
- Calculate material requirements.
- Maintain valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record.
- Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Comply with all City of Laredo’s policies and procedures.
- Take and follow directions from supervisor.
- Give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff.
- Perform strenuous and routine work.
- Project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo.
- Maintain good health and physical condition.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Work in a stockroom or warehouse, office, and outside in various weather conditions and outdoor elements.
- Rotating shifts, long or irregular work hours, on-call status, and moderate traveling by car.
- Working around moving objects or vehicles, working around machines with moving parts, working on ladders or scaffolding, and below ground.
- Operating motor vehicle, office equipment, mechanical equipment, straight pulling, simple & dual simultaneous grasping, pulling hand over hand, standing, twisting, kneeling, stooping, pushing, reaching above shoulders, climbing ladders, walking, repeated bending, sitting, and light to heavy lifting and carrying (15 - 45 Ibs and over).
- See, write, count, read, identify shades of colors, depth perception, and hearing needed to perform essential functions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of experience operating power tools such as: grinder, hydraulic auger, drill, reciprocator saw, graco line lazer, hand tool burner for thermoplastic application, or similar equipment.
- Valid Texas Driver license.

- A Valid Texas Driver license.
Background Check and Drug Test
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment. Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
