Deputy City Recorder - Part Time

Main Responsibilities

  • Help prepare agendas and information packets for City meetings.
  • Attend assigned public meetings and take meeting minutes.
  • File, scan, organize, and maintain official records.
  • Prepare and post public notices.
  • Serve as a Notary Public and verify signatures on official documents.
  • Help process public records requests.
  • Assist with city elections tasks.
  • Provide basic support for Granicus (agenda software) and the City Hall audio/video system.
  • Do other similar office tasks as needed.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in business, public administration, or a related field, AND 2 years of similar work experience, OR A mix of education and experience that gives you the needed skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to learn and follow state and local recordkeeping laws
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to write clearly
  • Able to understand and interpret city laws and procedures
  • Good judgment, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Able to work well with the public and coworkers
  • Comfortable using computers and office equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Other Requirements

  • May need to become a Certified Municipal Clerk
  • Must be or become a Notary Public
