Deposit Risk Specialist

First Western is a local community bank serving Western Arkansas since 1910 and Northwest Arkansas since 1991. We specialize in customer service and serving our communities, offering traditional banking, mortgage, insurance, and investment services.

About the role

This position requires discretion and the confidence to make critical decisions while researching, investigating, monitoring, identifying, and mitigating fraud. You must be detail-oriented, able to make deductive decisions to prevent potential risks or scams, and proficient in technology. The role involves observing customer history, deposit patterns, and relationships with the bank to identify suspicious activity. You must be willing to seek more efficient methods for daily duties while thoroughly reviewing all aspects of risk.

Responsibilities

• Review Smart Pay to manage and make decisions on mobile deposits.
• Examine items exceeding their parameter/risk settings, endorsements, and/or suspicious activity.
• Obtain approval and additional review on any potential risk or suspicious items.
• Review Bill Pay reports to monitor and identify potential risk and suspicious items, including OFAC hits, auto-approved accounts, scheduled transactions and transfers, and new enrollments.
• Review Banno for potentially compromised reports, unverified two-factor authentication, external transfers, micro deposit status, and suspicious activity reports.
• Actively monitor and decide on mobile deposit enrollments.
• Assist in deposit maintenance tasks.
• Approve debit card wallet requests.
• Review potential risk hits through Financial Crime Defender.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication, teamwork, troubleshooting, analytical, and risk assessment skills.
• Proficiency in all bank software programs as well as Word, Excel, and Email.
• Ability to work independently with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
• Must pass a criminal background check, consumer credit check, and drug screening.
