Deli Night Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Night Lead to join our kitchen team in a retail grocery store environment. As a Deli Night Lead, you will inspire and lead a dedicated team to provide outstanding guest service and support daily deli operations. You’ll manage product quality, oversee inventory, and ensure a clean and welcoming department for guests. You’ll also mentor and train associates while contributing to the overall success of the deli department.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach evening deli associates, ensuring excellent service and adherence to company expectations.
• Partner with the Deli Assistant Department Manager to manage daily operations.
• Oversee the quality and freshness of deli products, including self-service and service cases, hot bar, salad bar, and stock levels.
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues to maintain satisfaction, including fulfilling special orders for early morning shifts.
• Manage deli operations such as inventory, pricing, and merchandising to meet company standards and sales goals.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the department, ensuring food safety protocols are followed, including logs and proper storage techniques.
• Ensure regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and provide adequate notice for absences.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.

Requirements

• Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate, lead, and train a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
• Guest Service Focus: Ability to interact with guests tactfully, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
• Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication for coaching, reporting, and managing a team.
• Operational Knowledge: Solid understanding of deli operations, inventory management, and merchandising, with the ability to make timely decisions.
• Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety procedures and ability to apply on-the-job safety training.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally, and pushing carts of up to 200 pounds.
• Full range of upper body motion required.
• Ability to stand for most of the shift.
• Ability to work at a fast pace.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, including kitchens, coolers, freezers, and the sales floor.

Schedule

The Deli Night Lead is a full-time position with a varying shift, including evenings during weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
