Dean of Teaching & Learning- Elementary

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Aids in the hiring, support, and retention of effective staff; develops or exits low performers.
• Manages systems to allocate resources for school improvement.
• Maintains a safe and orderly school environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each student.
• Supports and provides accommodations to meet the needs of each student.
• Leads and directs staff in evaluating and improving educational programs, including curricular and extracurricular activities.
• Assists in the budgetary and financial affairs of the school according to district policies.

Instructional Leadership

• Conducts high-quality classroom observations and identifies effective teaching practices.
• Supports staff in developing and implementing professional goals for the improvement of instruction.
• Develops and administers school programs aligned with district goals and objectives.
• Encourages staff to continue professional growth and to try new teaching approaches.
• Coordinates staff efforts to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in elementary or secondary education.
• Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching/administrative experience.
• Michigan Teaching Certificate and Michigan Administrator Certificate (possess or willing to obtain within three years of hire).
