Dean of Students

About the Role

BASIS Ahwatukee is seeking a Dean of Students for the Upper School Program to help lead efforts in building and maintaining a strong, positive, achievement-oriented school culture. This position manages behavior programs, models mutually respectful relationships with students and families, and ensures the well-being of students during their time at the school. The Dean of Students is a visible presence across all areas of the school.

Responsibilities

• Supports teachers in resolving communication differences with parents and students
• Organizes student arrival and dismissal
• Reviews results of assessments, including numeracy, reading comprehension, problem-solving skills, state-required assessments, and BASIS program evaluations (Comprehensive or Curriculum Gains)
• Reviews Progress Reports and Mid-semester reports
• Organizes and executes student academic and behavior support
• Maintains student discipline and ensures proper documentation
• Communicates and meets with parents regarding student performance and/or conduct
• Participates in the development of academic and student schedules
• Assists in planning and executing standardized assessments
• Supports teachers in building positive relationships with parents
• Attends all faculty and staff meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
• 3–5 years of experience in a school setting (charter or independent preferred)
• Behavior management or relevant experience preferred
