About the role

We are seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician to support data center infrastructure. The role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of network cabling, including twisted pair, coaxial, and fiber optics. This position requires responding to infrastructure incidents, managing service requests, and ensuring all work meets industry standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and terminate various cable types, including twisted pair, coaxial, and single and multi-mode fiber optic cables. This includes placement, grounding, testing, and labeling.
  • Certify and label for Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) network cables.
  • Install cable pathway systems such as cable trays, j-hooks, and d-rings, including dressing and routing cable.
  • Create and maintain fiber maps showing end-to-end connectivity.
  • Use industry-standard test equipment to identify, locate, and repair faults within copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Maintain record management of all completed work and provide weekly status reports.
  • Serve as the lead infrastructure technician during priority repairs, renovations, or relocation efforts.
  • Carry a government-provided pager and respond to calls within 15 minutes during business hours.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 4 years of relevant IT experience in supporting Fiber Optic and Copper Cabling, including cabinets and pathways.
  • A CompTIA Security+ or IAT Level II certification is required within 6 months of starting. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of structured cabling industry codes and standards, with experience in installing, terminating, and testing both copper and fiber optic cabling, including fusion splicing.
  • Candidates must be US citizens able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employment.

This position is subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA) and includes an additional Health and Welfare benefit of $5.09 per hour.
