CYS Assistant Facility Director NF-04.

This position is open to candidates who reside within a 50 mile radius of the local commuting area of Fort Knox, KY. Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included.

About the role

Serves as a first-level supervisor for assigned staff and assists the Director in the supervision of the day-to-day operation of the program/activity. The incumbent reports and works directly with the Director with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assists with providing program oversight and accountability for the performance of employees, the safety of children, and customer needs.
• Supervises staff to include assigning work, conducting performance reviews, and approving leave.
• Establishes local performance standards for employees and volunteers using established standards and requirements and rates employees' performance.
• Ensures facility complies with health, fire, safety, USDA, and program regulatory guidance and standards.
• Observes program participants and identifies signs of illness, abuse or neglect, emotional distress, and follows mandated reporting protocols.
• In conjunction with the Director ensures compliance with standards, criteria, and laws to obtain and retain DoD certification and national accreditation.
• Assists with taking action to implement recommendations or correct deficiencies.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Favorably adjudicated background checks are required due to regular contact with children under the age of 18 (Section 231 of the Crime Control Act of 1990).
• Position is subject to immunization requirements as a condition of employment for working with children and youth, including influenza vaccine per Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent physicals, provide evidence of immunization, and be free from communicable disease.
• Must complete all DoD and Service training requirements within the specified time, including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training, and any required certifications.
• Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certifications.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Must have mobility necessary to ensure safety of children and youth, including walking, standing, bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor.
• Must have the visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and youth, comply with sight and sound supervision requirements, and provide immediate responses when applicable.
• Tour of duty may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Majority of the work is performed in the CYS facility, including classroom settings, activity areas, and outdoor areas, with occasional indoor and outdoor field trips.

Qualifications

Resumes must clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to this position.

• Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position. For positions in Child Development Facilities, the education must be directly related to child development or a related behavioral science field.
• OR Option 1: A combination of education and experience:
  • Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field.
  • Experience: 12 months working in group programs with children/youth, including demonstrated knowledge in theories and principles of child/youth development, of which 6 months must be in a supervisory position. The McCormick Credential is required.
• OR Option 2: A combination of education and experience:
  • Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field.
  • Experience: 12 months working in group programs with children/youth, including demonstrated knowledge in theories and principles of child/youth development, of which 12 months must be in a supervisory position.

Proof of education is required at the time of application. Note: Education must be directly related to the position; general education courses do not count toward the credit total.
