About the role

The Customs Analyst is an established performer who is responsible for executing day-to-day brokerage operations, including planning, and prioritizing in-house-brokerage activities. This role also maintains U.S. import/export regulations, documentation, and compliance matters and regulatory areas for US and Foreign Customs, including assisting in foreign government audits.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain procedures to ensure compliance with import laws and regulations.
  • Conduct periodic assessments of company and broker performance.
  • Troubleshoot ad hoc trade-related issues in support of both internal and external customers.
  • Prepare import customs entries for import shipments.
  • Ensure proper coding of import and export entries.
  • Review import and export entries to ensure compliance; identify noncompliance issues and/or guides the action steps required.
  • Code for applicable duty rates based on knowledge of product and HTS classification as well as tracking raw material components of products.
  • Approve and code broker export invoices.
  • Import freight charges and duty payments utilizing PayCargo software.
  • Communicate with Customs and other government officials, including the authorization of duty payments to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), under supervision.
  • Address a diverse range of inquiries related to NAFTA and all other Free Trade Agreement eligibility, documentation, and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2-4 years' relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, procedures, and documentation.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite products.
