Customs Analyst

About the role

Dauch is hiring a Customs Analyst to join the team in Detroit, MI. As a Customs Analyst, you will ensure compliance in the import and export of goods, optimize trade processes, and minimize costs. You will manage customs documentation, analyze trade data, and work with various stakeholders to navigate international trade regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a proven understanding of classifications/tariffs from a global perspective; understanding of FTA/COO certificates including eligibility status; and knowledge of shipment/entry documentation, specific documentation requirements, and record-keeping requirements. Any customs-related certifications are also a plus.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze daily broker files, entry packets, and ACE data related to imports and exports.
• Support import/export transactions for AAM locations (including documentation generation).
• Manage AES filings and operational KPIs.
• Data-mining for escalations, report findings, and investigate root causes (e.g., HTS, part number, supplier, COO, or other discrepancies).
• Investigate and summarize findings for specific requests from Sales, Purchasing, or other areas.
• Review filings for accuracy and determine required actions (e.g., ECCN updates, broker filing changes, missing documentation, or additional solicitations).
• Provide post-entry/post-filing support, monitor broker corrective actions, resolve missing documentation, address data discrepancies, and coordinate meetings to close investigations.
• Create periodic reporting and presentations (e.g., weekly calls with key business partners and brokers).
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience working with import and export shipments to a variety of global countries.
