Work Conditions
- Exposure to varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks (e.g., removing trash).
- In-store temperatures range from 36°F in coolers to 90°F or higher in some work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
- Exposure to food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped quarters (e.g., walk-in cooler), and hot surfaces/tools (ovens up to 500°F or higher).
- Proximity to sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
Sensory and Cognitive Requirements
- Talking and hearing on the telephone.
- Near and mid-range vision for most in-store tasks, including depth perception.
- Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
- Capacity to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone or with others, handle stress, meet quality control standards, interact with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Most tasks are performed while standing.
- Walking: Short distances on surfaces like ceramic tile or linoleum; work surfaces range from 36 to 48 inches in height.
- Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table.
- Lifting: Unloading bulk deliveries (e.g., cases of ingredients/supplies up to 50 lbs, dimensions up to 3' x 1.5') using a hand truck. Cases are lifted from the floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72 inches high.
- Carrying: Large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz), 30-lb pizza sauce containers, and trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray, carried three at a time over short distances).
- Pushing/Pulling: Moving trays on dollies (stacks of 24–30 trays require up to 7.5 lbs of force to push).
- Climbing: Infrequent use of stairs or ladders for tasks like changing prices, washing walls, or performing maintenance.
- Stooping/Bending: Forward bending at the waist (e.g., at the pizza assembly station for 30–45 seconds at a time, repeated continuously). Bending is also required at the front counter and when stocking ingredients.
- Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally required for stocking shelves or cleaning low areas.
- Reaching: Continuous reaching in all directions (up, down, forward) for tasks like turning oven controls, changing prices, lifting objects, scooping cornmeal, washing dishes, obtaining toppings, or answering phones.
- Hand Tasks: Eye-hand coordination is essential. Frequent use of hands for shaping dough, manipulating pizza peels, cutting pizzas, assembling boxes, and grasping objects (e.g., cans, phones, pizza cutters, boxes).
Tools and Equipment
Team members may use pencils/pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutters, pizza peels, and other standard kitchen tools.
