Customer Accounts Specialist, Centralized Services
Our client operates in the property management industry, specializing in conventional and student housing communities. They provide centralized property administration services that help residential communities manage rent collection, delinquency, resident communications, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Supporting a portfolio of approximately 6–8 communities, the organization works with both onsite and remote teams to maintain consistent financial processes, responsive customer service, and positive resident experiences.
About the Role
The Customer Accounts Specialist is responsible for managing resident accounts and financial processes across assigned residential communities. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate resident ledgers, supporting rent collection and delinquency management, processing accounts payable and receivable, and communicating with residents and community teams. The position also assists with audits, vendor management, monthly reporting, and other accounting functions that contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of the property portfolio.
The ideal candidate has property management and resident accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage automated rent reminders, delinquency notices, and related resident account communications for assigned communities.
- Initiate timely and professional communications with delinquent residents and other relevant parties.
- Review resident ledgers, investigate discrepancies, and make account adjustments as directed.
- Provide residents with information regarding available payment plans and rental assistance programs.
- Prepare and issue move-out statements for residents who are vacating properties.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and related documentation.
- Oversee vendor credentialing through the organization’s designated platform.
- Prepare and submit expense reclassifications and accruals to support accurate monthly financial reporting.
- Assist with lease audits, charge audits, and other account reviews.
- Respond promptly and professionally to resident, property, and community inquiries.
- Maintain accurate documentation and account records while following established procedures.
- Collaborate with onsite and remote teams to resolve account issues and maintain consistent service.
- Participate in training programs and pursue opportunities for professional development.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of property management experience.
- 1–2 years of experience in property-level accounting and resident account management.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide consistent, professional customer service.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create concise, clear, and relevant messages.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial and resident account information.
- Familiarity with Yardi or Entrata preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with onsite and remote teams.

Pay
For positions performed in Colorado, the salary range is $21–$24 per hour, plus potential bonus opportunities.
