About the role

This position is responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, facilities, and grounds. Duties include cleaning plant equipment, scrubbing, sanitizing, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, disposing of trash, cleaning up spills, replacing air fresheners, changing light bulbs, locking doors, painting, maintaining water coolers, and preparing facilities for events such as meetings or banquets. Additional responsibilities include cleaning offices, bathrooms, break rooms, and other areas, moving furniture, supplies, textiles, or equipment, applying insecticides and fumigants, trimming shrubbery, performing outside maintenance, clearing walkways of snow or leaves, and operating a powered industrial truck to move, transfer, load, and unload materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning plant equipment using compressed air and other methods
• Scrub, sanitize, vacuum, sweep, and mop floors and surfaces
• Dispose of trash and clean up spills
• Replace air fresheners and change out light bulbs
• Lock doors, paint, and maintain water coolers
• Prepare facilities for events such as meetings or banquets
• Clean offices, bathrooms, break rooms, and other areas
• Move furniture, supplies, textiles, or equipment within departments or into storage
• Assist other departments with additional tasks as needed
• Apply insecticides and fumigants, trim shrubbery, and perform other outside maintenance
• Clear walkways of snow or leaves
• Participate in safety programs such as committees or emergency contingency
• Use personal protective equipment as needed
• Notify supervision of repair needs, spills, safety concerns, or hazardous situations
• Keep records of maintenance and monitor cleaning supplies
• Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and other areas
• Operate a powered industrial truck to move, transfer, load, and unload materials
• Meet efficiency and safety standards for the position
• Follow instructions as directed by supervision
• Keep work area neat and clean
• Work in other production positions as needed

Qualifications

• Ability to recognize colors and sizes, count and sort accurately
• In some locations, ability and certification to safely operate a powered industrial truck
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products and procedures or willingness to learn
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively with a team
• Ability to work independently and comprehend and follow written or verbal direction

Physical Demands

Standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, working in cramped areas, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting up to 90 lbs., carrying up to 50 lbs., and stooping.

Work Environment

Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, including working with and around large machinery, in general offices, outside grounds, variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint, and dust.
