Qualifications
- High School diploma preferred
- General knowledge of custodial methods
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Performs general, routine custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking general cleaning, restroom, and disinfectant supplies
- Orders cleaning supplies far enough in advance to avoid hindering duties
- Reports routine maintenance required for custodial equipment and supplies to warehouse manager
- Empties trash receptacles, disposes of trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal in classroom/office areas
- Unlocks and locks doors as needed
- Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, including submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures
- Performs cleaning functions specific to assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements
- May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Inspects the United States flag and requests a new one when it becomes discolored or weathered
- Assumes responsibility for closing the building each day, ensuring doors are locked and windows are closed
- Moves furniture or other items within the building for various activities as directed by Principal and/or Building Manager
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 90 pounds)
- Physical work is a primary part (more than 65%) of the job
- Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring basic safety precautions
- May involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, talk, or hear
- Must squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward
- Continuous use of hand strength to grasp items during the day
- Regularly works indoors and occasionally outdoors
- May work with caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays, and non-household dust
- Noise level is usually moderate but may occasionally be loud
Reports to: Executive Director of Operations and Principals
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Terms of Employment: Twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
