Custodial Specialist II (On-Call)

About the role

Per Diem Custodial Specialist II positions are on-call roles that fill open shifts, cover call-outs, vacations, and other staffing needs at CRISTA Ministries in Shoreline, WA. The role maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and visitors by performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks, including trash disposal, supply replenishment, and floor care.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for shift coverage and accept assignments based on operational needs and availability.
• Daily clean, disinfect, empty trash, take materials to recycle, and replenish supplies in assigned areas per Environmental Services Supervisor instructions.
• Use backpack vacuum for carpets and mop floors during project times; operate and maintain floor care equipment for stripping hard surface floors and applying finish; operate and maintain carpet extractor for carpet cleaning.
• Set up and take down furniture for activities as assigned; monitor assigned areas and remove unsafe or broken items; report maintenance needs promptly with a sense of urgency.
• Properly use and care for equipment; handle cleaning chemicals safely and effectively; follow all safety and cleaning protocols.
• Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, and customers; follow directions, rules, and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
• Conduct that reflects CRISTA Ministries’ mission, vision, Statement of Faith, and Christian Community Representative Commitment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of professional or commercial cleaning experience.
• Ability to pass background checks relating to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions (WAC 338-113).
• Maintain a high level of personal appearance consistent with CRISTA standards; demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
• Ability to read and write in English, understand rules and procedures, and carry out directions verbally or in writing.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in an orderly and timely manner, meeting the “Standard of Clean” by following the schedule set for each area.
• Follow safety procedures to ensure safety of self and others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of professional or commercial cleaning.
• Driver’s license.

Pay

$19.75 – $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
