Custodial Specialist II
About the role
The Housekeeping Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a Custodial Specialist II to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient campus environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform deep cleaning and restorative projects, including hard floor care, carpet cleaning, and pressure washing.
- Complete routine cleaning tasks for assigned areas in compliance with cleanliness standards established for Custodial Specialist I roles.
- Utilize specialized cleaning skills for project work as directed by the supervisor, ensuring tasks align with process guides.
- Gather appropriate supplies and equipment for each project, such as those required for hard floor or carpet care.
- Identify and submit work requests to address any deficiencies found during inspections or regular duties.
- Provide training and support to team members on Standard Operating Procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols as needed.
- Ensure the efficient operation of custodial equipment and supplies.
- Report inventory needs and maintain proper care of unit equipment.
- Stock supplies in designated areas according to delivery schedules to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Completion of 9th grade and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
- Knowledge of floor care process for hard surfaces including pressure washing, stripping, and restorative practices.
- Ability to use small and large tools required for essential tasks (floor care equipment, mop/mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, radio, etc.).
- Proficiency with standard office software applications and devices for work order systems (IWMS).
- Ability to communicate in conversational English to work effectively with customers and team members, operate electronic equipment (iPad for Integrated Work Management Systems PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures, and utilize telecommunication devices.
- Adaptable to work assignments and flexible for urgent trade requirements.
- Understanding of safety guidelines and able to use approved chemicals by Environmental Health & Safety to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to operate a fleet vehicle as necessary.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrated capabilities in interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension, and organizing.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Completion of 9th grade and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Pay
Compensation is determined in alignment with UCF’s pay structure and internal equity considerations. This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
