This position supports K-State's mission of learning, scholarship, creative endeavor, and research by creating and maintaining an environment which contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position plays an integral role in maintaining and sustaining university structural assets and is responsible for first impressions, thus playing an important role in student & faculty recruitment and retention.

About the role

Performs a variety of custodial functions to include cleaning, disinfecting, minor equipment repair and preventative maintenance. Utilizes a broad array of chemicals and operates a variety of power equipment in maintenance of floors and other duties. Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks as assigned by leadership and must be able to work with minimal supervision. Requires the ability to frequently interact effectively with university students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Direct supervision is from the Custodial Services Supervisor.

  • Could be called into work in emergency situations including but not limited to inclement weather, flooding caused by weather, accidents or infrastructure failure and recovery from other catastrophic events (tornado, fire, blood, etc.).

Schedule

Hours are 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., with occasional call back for emergencies.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a wide variety of commercial janitorial equipment and understand/follow explicit instructions, both oral and written.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
  • All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law.

This position is on-site. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

Pay

$15.00 - $16.00 hourly + $0.60 shift differential.
