Custodial Manager
About the role
The Custodial Manager position is responsible for supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of all buildings on Metal Museum campuses. This includes offices, classrooms, exhibitions, and entrances/hallways. This position is also responsible for training new employees in proper procedures for operating tools, machines, cleaning compounds, and chemicals. In addition, this hands-on role involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, structural, energy management, fire suppression system, and electrical equipment. The role continuously supports facilities operations with the goal of reducing downtime including, but not limited to building maintenance, related systems, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assign and supervise custodial employees to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all buildings on Metal Museum campuses.
- Train new employees in proper procedures for operating tools, machines, cleaning compounds, and chemicals.
- Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, structural, energy management, fire suppression system, and electrical equipment.
- Support facilities operations to reduce downtime, including building maintenance, related systems, and equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in custodial work and/or facility management.
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals.
- Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in custodial work or facility management.
- Proven ability to manage and train staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on building systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
