Summary
The Manager of Custodial Services supervises custodian employees, providing services at assigned sites to maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all custodial administrative functions, ensuring adherence to site requirements and standards.
- Manage paid time off requests and timecards for all custodial staff (review, edit as needed, and approve timesheets).
- Provide leadership to custodial staff, conducting performance reviews, offering constructive feedback, and facilitating ongoing training.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new custodial team members.
- Develop and implement efficient custodial procedures to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities.
- Collaborate with administrative personnel to plan, prioritize, and schedule custodial activities.
- Supervise and inspect properties to ensure defined cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Conduct various training sessions for custodial staff, covering chemical usage, equipment operation, health, and safety.
- Order and distribute custodial supplies and equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and visitors, taking appropriate action or referring issues to the relevant personnel.
- Serve as a backup for the Director of Custodial Services during their absence.
- Promote a positive work environment to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of job-related experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish – oral and written)
- Prior supervisory experience and skills
- Knowledge of custodial cleaning best practices
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and relevant software
- Able to operate job-related tools and equipment
- Effective problem-solving skills, including interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions and applying initiative in non-standard situations
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work respectfully, professionally, and compassionately with diverse individuals and groups
- Knowledge of community diversity and cultural dynamics
- Commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. Guadalupe Centers serves a diverse population, including children, adolescents, and adults, some of whom may have mental or behavioral health problems. Consequently, all GC staff must demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, and appropriate role modeling. Pay Range
$55,000 per year
