Culture and Capabilities Manager
About the Role
The Farmer’s Dog is growing, and it's critical to ensure our culture scales with it while building the capabilities needed for what's next. As the Culture & Capability Manager, you will own the day-to-day work of turning strategy into experiences that the entire organization actually feels. Reporting to the Program Lead, Org Effectiveness, you’ll shape and deliver learning and culture programs that keep pace with our mission. You’ll work collaboratively across teams, ensuring our rhythms, feedback loops, and programming are reliable, impactful, and continuously improving.
What We Stand For
- One Team: We align around shared goals, not departments. We bring the right people and context together to solve problems holistically, ensuring every interaction considers the customer journey.
- Skeptical About Everything, Precious About Nothing: Ideas can come from anywhere, and we’re quick to change course if a better solution emerges. We proactively seek input and prioritize impact over tradition.
- Execute for Impact: We reject "best practices" and "industry benchmarks" in favor of being the best we can be. Roles are flexible, and we focus on outcomes, not rigid expectations.
- Focused and Work Without Assumption: We treat everything beyond our goals as hypotheses to validate. We work sequentially, prioritizing the most important questions and adjusting as new information arises.
Responsibilities
- Bring learning and capability experiences to life:
- Build and maintain intake processes, templates, trackers, and rhythms to keep learning programs moving and visible at scale.
- Own learning delivery end-to-end, including planning, scheduling, logistics, and communications, ensuring every session lands effectively.
- Product-manage our learning experience platform (LMS), handling enrollment, content management, learner communications, and reporting.
- Shape learning materials (pre/post-session work, facilitation decks, tip sheets, workbooks) and facilitate sessions yourself.
- Scale our culture for the long run:
- Develop and roll out culture programming from scratch (e.g., storytelling series, leadership Q&As, internal podcasts, or new formats) to make our mission and ethos visible in everyday moments.
- Embed cultural expectations into core processes like onboarding and performance enablement so values translate into practice.
- Partner with the Program Lead to integrate employee feedback into the culture programming roadmap.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in learning and development, talent management, people programs, or employee experience, including designing and launching programs that drive behavioral change.
- Deep understanding of how people learn, with the ability to explain why a program is structured a certain way (format, sequence, practice, follow-up) and how to measure its effectiveness.
- Curiosity about how people grow through change and new experiences, paired with an eye for design in both experience and aesthetics.
- Proven ability to build and produce—you enjoy shaping ideas and take pride in flawless execution.
- Strong communicator who can distill complex ideas into clear, concise messaging for diverse audiences.
- Fluency with data and tools, including pulling participation/feedback data, interpreting it, and using AI to streamline workflows.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build cross-functional relationships to drive ambitious work.
- Ownership mentality in fast-moving, ambiguous environments—you prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects, and proactively seek solutions.
- Passion for dogs!
