CTE Teacher: Cosmetology (FLTCC)

This position is to cover a Leave Of Absence for the 2026 - 2027 school year. Anticipated start date: September 16, 2026. End date: To be determined. Location: Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center (FLTCC), Stanley, NY 14561.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, high-level engagement, and eagerness to continue learning and growing.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills.
• Support students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work, and the foundational skills employers have identified.
• Willingness to develop, grow, and promote the program to include all learners.
• Differentiate instruction to ensure all students experience success.
• Commit to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments.

Requirements

• Must hold or be qualified to obtain appropriate New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification and maintain it throughout employment.
• If not currently certified, the successful candidate will receive assistance in selecting a personalized pathway to obtain certification.
• NYSED certification requirements include approved fingerprints, completion of DASA Training, SAVE Workshop, Child Abuse Identification Workshop, and submission of education and work experience to obtain Transitional certification.
• Must pursue NYS Teaching Certification in Trade Subjects – Cosmetology, which requires in-depth, comprehensive, and appropriate work experience in personal service settings for cosmetology customers.
• Experience may include cutting and styling hair, coloring and bleaching hair, permanent wave curling and chemical straightening, natural nail services, artificial nail enhancement applications, and skin care services.
• A current NYS Department of State cosmetology license is required.
• Successful candidates must continue working through the teacher certification process until achieving Professional Level certification.
