Criticalist, & Assistant, Associate, or Full NTT (Teaching / Clinical) Professor in Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care

About the role

The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine at MU seeks candidates for an open Criticalist and NTT Faculty position in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. The position is a 0.75 FTE/12-month appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and didactic teaching to professional students, graduate students, residents, and interns.
• Participate in research, with an emphasis on collaborative and clinical projects.
• Provide 24-hour care for the hospitals' most critical patients.
• Monitor animals using advanced methods such as cardiac telemetry, blood gas analysis, blood pressure, electrolyte and metabolic assessments, and more.
• Equip the service with four GE Engstrom Carestation mechanical ventilators, two Vapotherm high flow oxygen units, Snyder oxygen cages, Prismaflex CRRT and TPE system, telemetry, and multiple point-of-care ultrasound machines.
• Offer supportive care that is not available anywhere else in mid-Missouri.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc).
• Diplomate status or eligibility for board certification by either the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care or the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care; or successful completion of an approved residency training program in emergency and critical care by appointment start date.
• Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri and for DEA registration and BNDD certificate.
