Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (NTT or TT) in Small Animal Internal Medicine

About the role

The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the University of Missouri is seeking candidates for an Open rank teaching professor (NTT) or Open rank professor (T/TT) in Small Animal Internal Medicine. The successful candidate will provide clinical instruction, participate in research, contribute to the curriculum, represent the University and College, provide telephone consultations, and participate in after-hours call.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical instruction for students (professional), interns, and residents in small animal internal medicine utilizing the caseload of the VHC and by providing cutting-edge medical care to patients of the VHC.
• Participate in the discovery process by participating in clinical, resident or house officer research. Tenure-track faculty have an expectation for extramurally funded research programs. Collaborative research and research mentorship are rewarded.
• Contribute to the professional and graduate curriculum by participating in classroom and laboratory instruction. Opportunities for online instruction are possible.
• Represent the University, College, and VHC through outreach activities for animal-owning public, referring veterinarians, or other relevant stakeholders.
• Provide telephone consultation to off-site, university-operated clinics and veterinarians regarding medical issues.
• Participate with other faculty and house officers in after-hours call.
• Participate in faculty governance activities and provide service to the department, college, and university as well as to the profession, as appropriate.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc)
• Diplomate status or eligibility for board certification by either the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Small Animal Internal Medicine or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine; or completion of an approved small animal internal residency training program by appointment start date
• Candidates will be evaluated on: Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri and for DEA registration and BNDD certificate; Professional, residency and graduate training; Educational and professional achievement, career goals and the needs of the college.
• Tenure/Tenure-Track candidates will also be evaluated on advanced graduate training (PhD or equivalent preferred) and/or post-doctoral experience.
