Overview

The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-months/year appointment in small animal internal medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Strong interest and experience in clinical small animal internal medicine and instruction of veterinary students.
  • May include clinical service and research responsibilities, depending on interests and type of appointment.
  • Tenure-track faculty are expected to establish a specific area of research focus, seek extramural funding, and mentor ACVIM residents pursuing graduate degrees.
  • Teaching professional veterinary students, training residents and interns, and providing small animal internal medicine services for the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital.

Description of Small Animal Internal Medicine Service

  • Team includes two ACVIM-SAIM Diplomate faculty, one ECVIM-SAIM Diplomate faculty, six SAIM residents, and one SAIM specialty intern.
  • Services include a brand new portable endoscopy system, Vcheck V200 Bionote analyzer, Echo Rebel iPad based digital microscope, and HM70 EVO Samsung ultrasound machine.
  • Support includes a full-service in-house volunteer blood bank, various diagnostic imaging equipment, and a licensed centralized pharmacy with pharmacists and a DICVP-certified pharmacist.
  • Advanced therapeutic modalities include Prismaflex CRRT system, high-flow nasal oxygen, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation.

Teaching, Research, and Scholarship Opportunities

  • Shared research space and technical support provided within the Department.
  • Collaborations with Auburn University’s main campus and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Auburn campus.
