Clinical Instructor or Assistant, Associate, or Full NTT (Teaching / Clinical) Professor in Small Animal Community Practice

About the role

The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery seeks a Clinical Instructor or NTT Faculty to join the Small Animal Community Practice section. This is a 0.8 FTE position with the expectation of working 4 days per week. It is a benefit-eligible, 12-month/year appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality small animal primary and preventative veterinary care, including examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, routine procedures, and accurate medical record documentation.
• Participate in clinical teaching by supervising and mentoring veterinary students, modeling professional conduct, and providing case-based instruction and feedback.
• Communicate effectively with clients and collaborate with Veterinary Health Center faculty and staff within specialty services to ensure coordinated patient care and a positive client experience.
• Contribute to the professional and graduate curriculum by participating in classroom and laboratory instruction. Opportunities for online instruction are possible.
• Represent the University, College, and VHC through outreach activities for animal-owning public, referring veterinarians, or other relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in scholarly activities such as research; professional development; publication of book chapters, case reports, or client-oriented educational publications; or continuing education opportunities for the veterinary medical community or general public.
• Contribute to and participate in college, departmental and hospital governance and service through committee work and other activities.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc)
• Candidates will be evaluated on prior experience in small animal community practice, primary care, or general practice
• Diplomate status or eligibility for board certification in an area of small animal medicine (e.g., ABVP – Canine & Feline; ACVPM; etc.) or advanced graduate training beyond a DVM or equivalent, such as an MPH or MS is highly desirable
• Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri and, DEA registration and BNDD certificate, and USDA accreditation (Small Animal)
• Professional, residency and/or graduate training
• Educational and professional achievement, career goals and the needs of the college
