About the role

The Crisis & Referral Specialist role is based in Louisiana and offers virtual work options. The position requires 24/7 availability and includes weekend and holiday shifts. The role involves handling inbound calls from individuals in crisis, performing safety screenings, and providing telephonic intervention and de-escalation.

Responsibilities

  • Takes inbound calls from individuals needing support, services, or who may be in crisis.
  • Performs safety screenings and assessments to determine the presence and acuity of risk.
  • Develops a plan of action in collaboration with the individual based on information gathered during screenings and assessments.
  • Completes accurate documentation of interactions according to established criteria.
  • Provides linkage follow-up to ensure the individual accesses necessary services.
  • Coordinates with other agencies, organizations, and individuals to optimize resource utilization and support systems.
  • Maintains compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health or 6 months of direct crisis experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • BS/BA degree in a mental health or related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience working directly with individuals in need of behavioral health services preferred.
  • Call center experience preferred.
  • Crisis experience preferred.

Schedule

The role operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Shifts include weekends and holidays. Training is conducted Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:30pm CST.
