Salary

The annual salary for this position ranges from $62,000 to $74,000. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.

Purpose of Position

The Campus Victim Services Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the victim of crime and campus police. This is a working field position. The advocate and coordinator will assure that victims understand and are afforded their rights and are kept updated on the progress of cases. The coordinator will be able to help assure that the victim has a voice in the process. The Campus Victim Services Coordinator will also direct the activities of the program and will evaluate performance based on daily, weekly, and monthly documentation of project activities, completion of assigned tasks, and ongoing modification based on changing needs.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises Crime Victim Services including the Crime Victim Advocate. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and creating ever changing policy and best practices for the division.
  • Captains work activities within department and other agencies to ensure smooth and timely service delivery.
  • Has frequent contact with Police Officers, other university employees, victims of crime, other law enforcement agencies, victim's services units, judges, attorneys and the general public.
  • Initiates victim centered, trauma informed response investigation for victims of family/dating violence, sexual assault, stalking and harassment.
  • Provides crisis intervention and/or counseling to victims of violent crimes in person or by phone, including case notes, documentation, and data entry.
  • Communicates with patrol officers, detectives, or other staff members regarding the status of the investigation, relevant information about the victim or suspect, or other pertinent issues related to the law enforcement / criminal justice process.
  • Assists victims through all phases of Criminal Justice process and campus related processes.
  • Provides field follow ups to former or current students, at the request of patrol officers, student conduct personnel, or requests routed from the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or a related social science field and three (3) years of documented work experience working with crime victims in a law enforcement, social services organization, or in a health care setting.
  • Current Mental Health License.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical license (LMSW, LPC, LMFT, Supervisor Experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and community social services and resources.
  • Knowledge of crisis counseling practices, procedures, methods and techniques related to the identification, interviewing, crisis intervention and support of victims and/or witnesses of domestic violence or criminal activities.
  • Knowledge of program development and grant writing.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, regional and local social services agencies and non-profit organizations, including application/qualifications and types/scope of services provided.
  • Knowledge of state laws pertaining to victims of violent crime, including their rights and law enforcement responsibilities to victims.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships inside and outside the department at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and assignments.
  • Skilled in public speaking.
  • Ability to supervise and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work tactfully with staff, other agencies and the general public including persons in crisis situations.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
Additional scheduling relevant to the role: On-call requirements.
Requires non-traditional work hours such as nights, weekends and holidays.
Extended work hours periodically required.

Additional Information

  • This position is grant funded, and the grant is expected to continue until 9/30/2026.
  • New grant cycle is 10/01/2026 ending on 9/30/2027.
