About the role

This is a working/journey position that works under general supervision. Work assignments may be in one or more case-type areas, including but not limited to front counter, distribution, child support, fines, restitution, and jury. The incumbent applies judgment to the diversified subject matter, selecting appropriate guidelines and applying general policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Applies judgment to the diversified subject matter, selecting appropriate guidelines and applying general policies and procedures.
  • Processes and handles legal clerical duties for the Clerk of Superior Court.
  • Works in one or more case-type areas, including but not limited to front counter, distribution, child support, fines, restitution, and jury.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of general office, legal clerical, or accounting-related experience, type 40 words per minute, OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Qualifications

  • Experience with typing routine materials, transcribing correspondence, proofreading and/or editing documents, composing, drafting, and finalizing correspondence, memoranda or other documents.
  • Experience with formatting and producing charts, graphs, or tables on a computer using various software, sorting, collating, and preparing documents for data entry, entering data in computers, creating new files in systems, proofreading data to verify its accuracy, updating and correcting information in an automated system, conducting records searches in databases, scheduling and calendaring meetings, appointments, interviews, or conferences, filing and retrieving documents in established filing systems, preparing and updating logs, file folders, and other documents, gathering information, preparing and processing documents, establishing and maintaining complex filing systems, compiling statistical data and preparing reports, greeting and directing the public (in person), answering telephones and relaying messages, answering questions from the public by phone or in person, resolving minor problems in person, by phone or correspondence, conducting client or customer interviews to gather information, receiving over the counter payments from the public and issuing receipts, verifying invoices and payments, calculating fees, receiving payments and balancing cash, establishing, posting, and maintaining bookkeeping systems/ledgers, creating brochures, newsletters or other promotional materials.
