Courier Dispatcher - 1st Shift

1st Shift Courier Dispatcher Shifts Available: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Schedule: Monday – Friday Position Summary Courier Connection is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented 1st Shift Courier Dispatcher to join our team. This position is responsible for coordinating and dispatching independent contract drivers (owner-operators) to ensure pickups and deliveries are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established service commitments. The ideal candidate can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions under pressure, communicate effectively with drivers and customers, and accurately document all relevant information in the dispatch system. This position requires daily interaction with contract drivers, customers, and internal team members. Depending on daily business needs, the dispatcher may also assist with customer service, shipment tracking, issue resolution, and other operational responsibilities. Candidates must be willing to work either scheduled shift and maintain flexibility to support changing business requirements when needed. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Dispatch Operations: Schedule and dispatch contract drivers to pickup and delivery locations while meeting established customer schedules and service requirementsRoute Coordination: Assign and manage driver routes, monitor delivery progress, and adjust assignments as needed to maintain service levels and operational efficiencyDriver Communication: Communicate pickup and delivery instructions, shipment details, schedule changes, and other critical information to drivers in a timely and accurate mannerCustomer Service: Respond to customer inquiries, provide shipment status updates, and address service requests professionally and promptlyIssue Resolution: Identify and resolve delays, missed pickups, delivery exceptions, driver availability issues, and other operational challengesUrgent Requests: Coordinate last-minute shipments, unscheduled client requests, and time-sensitive deliveries while balancing existing dispatch prioritiesSystem Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of dispatch assignments, pickup and delivery status, customer communications, and shipment exceptions in the dispatch systemPerformance Monitoring: Monitor driver progress and service performance to help ensure pickups and deliveries meet established commitmentsTeam Collaboration: Work closely with dispatch, customer service, and management to communicate operational issues and maintain consistent service qualityOther Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations and customer requirements Qualifications And Skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely decisionsBasic computer proficiency and the ability to learn dispatch and transportation management systemsAbility to accurately enter, retrieve, and maintain information in computer-based systemsProfessional and effective communication with drivers, customers, and coworkersAbility to remain calm and productive when managing time-sensitive requests and unexpected operational issuesDependable attendance and punctualityPrevious dispatch, courier, transportation, logistics, or customer service experience is preferred Work Schedule Monday through FridayAvailable shifts: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PMFlexibility may be required to accommodate changing operational demands Benefits 401(k)401(k) matchingHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurancePaid time off Join Our Team If you are dependable, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where communication, organization, and problem-solving are essential, we encourage you to apply for the Courier Dispatcher position at Courier Connection.
