About the role
We are a global corporation specializing in the distribution of specialty chemicals and equipment; providing a wide range of adhesives, sealants, lubricants, coatings, encapsulants, tapes, soldering products, surface preparations, specialty chemicals, maintenance and repair products, and dispensing equipment.
This is a permanent position in the Engineering industry, where you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our financial performance and direct cost accounting operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective cost accounting systems and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the operations of the cost accounting department including the design and maintenance of the cost accounting system and related procedures.
- Develop and implement cost standards for materials and labor.
- Prepare and present cost reports, including forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
- Coordinate with other departments to establish standard costs and update them as necessary.
- Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
- Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
- Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research, and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.
- Ensure timely and accurate inventory and cost of goods sold accounting.
- Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules, and others.
- Manage month-end close of the General Ledger with respect to inventory and cost of goods sold.
- Supervise and mentor a team of cost accountants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An advanced degree or professional certification such as CMA, CPA is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in a managerial role, preferably in the engineering industry.
- Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficient in cost accounting software, databases, and systems.
- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial and manufacturing data.
- Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage large, complex projects, and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
- Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.

Pay
