Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 15, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

The part-time position will be working 8 hours per week. The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $917.20 to $1127.80.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and trains staff and inmate-workers responsible for preparing meals for patients in a correctional health care facility and oversees the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets per physician orders.
  • Ensures staff and inmate-workers follow all departmental and institutional policies and procedures including, Title 15, Department Operations Manual, California Code of Regulations Title 22, Standard Operational Procedures, Diet Manual, California Retail Food Code, and Food & Nutrition Services Manual.
  • Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Requirements

The Correctional Supervising Cook, CF supervises the cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen facility and equipment.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid California Food Handlers Card. Must have a minimum of one year of experience in food service operations. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Skills

Must have excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
