About the role

The Correctional Supervising Cook (CSC) supervises and directs a crew of incarcerated workers in the preparation and service of food for the incarcerated population. They are responsible for receiving, storing, rotating, preparing and re-thermalizing food, ensuring proper quantity, quality and appearance of food items, coordinating with other CSCs, and performing various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct a crew of incarcerated workers in food preparation and service
  • Ensure proper quantity, quality and appearance of food items
  • Coordinate related issues and activities with other CSCs
  • Prepare reports, schedules, and logs
  • Train incarcerated workers on safety and operational procedures
  • Maintain work incentive records and timesheets
  • Assign work duties and monitor performance
  • Compose disciplinary reports and counseling chronos
  • Monitor equipment, refrigeration, safety, security, and sanitation

Requirements

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a correctional cook program, and one year of experience in a similar role. Previous experience in a correctional facility is preferred.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and a valid Food Handlers Card. Must be able to pass a background check, including a Live Scan and Tuberculosis test.

Skills

Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage a team are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

$4,586.00 - $5,639.00 per month, depending on experience.

Schedule
