CORRECTIONAL SUPERVISING COOK (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Position located at California State Prison, Solano in Vacaville, Solano County.

About the role

The Correctional Supervising Cook ensures all items needed for meals are present and in proper amounts, and supervises the preparation of meals to meet quality and wholesomeness standards. This role involves supervising and instructing incarcerated persons in all phases of cooking, proper use and handling of utensils, foods, and equipment, and adherence to sanitation standards. The position requires compliance with institutional procedures, the Department of Operations Manual, and Food Service policies and procedures.

Individuals eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervise meal preparation to ensure foods meet quality and wholesomeness standards.
• Instruct incarcerated persons in cooking techniques, proper use of utensils, foods, and equipment.
• Ensure adherence to sanitation standards and institutional procedures.
• Follow rules and regulations outlined in the Department of Operations Manual and Food Service policies.

• If meeting minimum qualifications with education, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
• Candidates with foreign degrees/transcripts must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency from a NACES-approved credential evaluation service.
• New hires must submit to a background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting, and a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by annual testing thereafter.

Pay

$4,586.00 - $5,639.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
