What You'll Do
- Lead and develop your existing book of business, serving as primary relationship partner and strategic advisor to your clients.
- Transition and integrate your practice into the firm, leveraging Miller Johnson’s platform to enhance service delivery and client growth.
- Drive business development initiatives, including expanding existing client relationships and cultivating new business.
- Provide leadership within the practice group, including mentoring and training junior associates and contributing to firmwide strategic initiatives.
- Represent buyers, sellers, investors, and business owners in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions across a variety of industries.
- Lead all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including structuring, due diligence, drafting and negotiating definitive agreements, closing, and post-closing integration matters.
- Develop practical, business-focused strategies that help clients achieve their strategic and operational objectives.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across practices, including tax, labor and employment, real estate, intellectual property, and litigation, to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
- Mentor and support the professional development of associates and counsel while fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Corporate, M&A Practice Group and Detroit office.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
- Admission to the Michigan State Bar or eligibility to waive into Michigan.
- Significant experience representing clients in mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters.
- Demonstrated experience handling sophisticated mid-market transactions.
- An established portable book of business.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and business counseling skills.
- Demonstrated success developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- The ability to manage multiple complex transactions and competing priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach to practice and a desire to contribute to firm leadership and growth.
