About the role

The False Claims Unit seeks to recover money lost due to fraud and misrepresentation under the California False Claims Act. This involves investigating and litigating violations, often involving high-profile, complex litigation with significant financial stakes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys and professional staff in preparing for and participating in complex false claims actions, including investigations, witness interviews, factual research, discovery, trials, hearings, settlement conferences, and meetings.
  • Prepare for and participate in electronic document management and information management projects such as large document productions, trial presentations, event chronologies, timelines, and transcript projects.
  • Gather and track all evidence and discovery, review paper and electronic data, and work with the Litigation Support Section.
  • Serve as an electronic litigation support consultant and train other section staff on document and information management best practices and litigation support software applications.
  • Contribute to the organization and analysis of case materials, and communicate effectively with team members.

Requirements

Organizational and analytical ability, effective communication skills, and knowledge of the litigation process are essential. Familiarity with litigation support software and electronic document management systems is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in legal research, document review, and litigation support.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
